VisionGate at a Glance

VisionGate is a medical device and cancer diagnostics company dedicated to saving human lives through early cancer detection and prevention, utilizing its revolutionary automated 3D cell imaging platform, the Cell-CT™, which generates high resolution 3D biosignatures from intact cells.

While VisionGate’s proprietary 3D cell imaging technology has application to the detection of other cancers, it was built to make a positive impact in the world’s number one cancer killer, lung cancer. VisionGate’s first diagnostic test, LuCED™, is for lung cancer early detection and we expect it to dramatically improve patient health by providing a non-invasive diagnostic test where none exists today. More people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. In 2010 alone, more than 157,000 people in the United States died from lung cancer while worldwide; there were 1.35 million new diagnoses and almost 1.2 million deaths, more deaths than any other form of cancer worldwide.

We believe that early detection is key to saving lives in lung cancer. This was recently proven in a double blinded placebo controlled, 52,000 patient National Cancer Institute sponsored trial proving that early detection reduced mortality. The NCI sponsored National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) proved a 20% reduction in mortality in lung cancer deaths due to early detection. Additionally, this news has spawned a growing demand from patients and advocacy groups to elevate the conversation regarding lung cancer screening and detection.

VisionGate’s LuCED test is based upon analysis of a patient’s sputum sample containing exfoliated cells from tumors.  Cells from sputum will be imaged via the Cell-CT in 3D.  This highly specific and sensitive test will provide a critical tool in the hands of caregivers.

VisionGate is seeking U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of its cytology-based 3D cellular screening technology for lung cancer following a Class III medical device under the Pre-Market Approval (PMA) process. Development and approval of additional diagnostic tests for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), bladder cancer and other cancer types will follow.

VisionGate offices are located at 455 North Fifth Street, in the Phoenix Biomedical Campus (PBC), a 28-acre urban medical and bioscience campus planned for more than six million square feet of biomedical-related research, academic and clinical facilities.  VisionGate also has research and development offices near the University of Washington, in Seattle.
